Xat’s Semi-Secret Ignore Function

xat ignore

After asking around a bit, we’ve come to the conclusion that not everyone, *cough*…including ourselves…*cough* *cough*, knows about Xat’s SHIFT+IGNORE function; hence the title, “Semi-Secret Ignore Function”.

Here’s the scoop. By simply holding down the shift key and clicking the standard ignore function, one can prevent the ignoree from PM’ing (private messaging) and PC’ing (private chatting) but can still see what he/she says in the main chatbox; the idea being that many ignoree’s often resort to trash-talk unbeknownst to the ignorer (word?).

What makes this different is that regular ignore prevents you from seeing any/all messages from the ignoree.

We personallly tested this out in the Xat Help chat, and it worked just as described.

Alert: Hair Spotted on Xat!

xat hair

We’ve spotted two new Xat powers called Hairm and Hairf, which we’re assuming are short for “hair male” and “hair female”; at least that’s what we think, judging from this screenshot.

xat hair power

The hair power allows you to put hair on any of the yellow Xat smilies. It will be available in the form of two separate powers, one for the guys named hairm, and a second for girls respectively named harif, and will work in conjunction with these five new smilies (currently in the smilies tab).

One final bit of information, users will also be able to make use of color codes to change the hair color.

New Xat Hands Power – Preview

Xats soon to be released Hands power allows a user to give “hands” to virtually any of the Xat smilies. Hands works in conjunction with the new hand smilies we mentioned earlier ( loser, rockon, palms, thumbsup, thumbsdown), hexadecimal color codes, and some previous powers (invert comes to mind).

What makes this power particularly interesting, is that it allows you, the user, an almost limitless number of smilie variations; something that’s sure to be a hit for those looking for uniqueness an originality on Xat.

How to use:
(SmilieCode#HandCode)

Example:
(d#loser) – creates a d smilie with loser hand
(smile#thumbsup#000000) – black hands using hexadecimal color codes

You can find the specifics of this newest power on the Xat hands wiki.

New Xat Smillies Alert!

new xat smilies

It looks like Xat is preparing a big block of new smilies. Right now, in the smilie list, all we see are blank placeholders where the new smilies will eventually be placed.

Hovering our mouse over each space gives us the following new Xat smilies:

angel, susake, vegeta, loser, rockon, palms, thumbsup, thumbsdown

Among the blanks we also still see “chew”; which has been blank for sometime now.

Update May 18th: Here are the new smilies that were leaked over the weekend.

I Spy New Xat Powers: Anime & Hands

Two new powers, perhaps still being tested by Xat, have been spotted by curious users browsing through the smilies tab.

The only concrete information that we have is that one is called “anime” and another “hands”.

We’ll leave it up to you to guess what each one does.

Stay tuned!

Talk to the Hand – New Xat Power!

xat talk to the hand

“Ttth” (talk to the hand), Xat’s newest power, gives you some added ability when ignoring a bothersome user.

Traditionally, to ignore another user, you simply clicked on their nick, clicked on “Ignore”, and their pawn turned gray. The user, apart from the sudden lack of participation on your part, had no way of knowing that they had just been ignored. Xat’s ttth power, in just one step, allows you both ignore and send with it, a personalized message in the form of a smilie.
