Xat Radio Station Codes – New!

xat radio station

Today we launched a page aimed specifically at generating new listeners for a few select Xat radio chats.

Our idea, with the help of a very simple tutorial, is to help distribute the IP addresses of several well-known/unknown online radio stations. To start we will be trying to get one Xat radio station for each genre of music (i.e. rock, punk, dance, etc…).

If you’re interested, or know someone that might be, feel free to direct them to our new Xat radio page for more details.

Thanks!

Xat Costumes Power Released!

Xat’s new Costumes power has been released and is now on sale (300 xats). Xat has also activated the seven new costume smile placeholders that we mentioned here and here; all of which can be combined with any of the yellow Xat smiles and the hands power (if you have it), to make your own personalized smilie.

One important note to consider: As more costumes are created, the cost of buying the costumes power may increase, so buy yours now.

See the Xat wiki for the specifics on how to use.

Three New Xat Costume Smilies!

xat smilies

Xat has been working on and has semi-released three new Xat smilies that we think will also play a role in the soon to be released costumes power; crown, partyhat and facemask.

Just like those mentioned before, at this moment, only the blank placeholders are appearing. We suspect that Xat is holding off on officially integrating these new smilies into the smilies tab until the costumes power finally does go on sale.

(crown#)
(partyhat#)
(facemask#)

Look for more to be released in the smiley tab of any chat.

Xat Vote – New!

Xat has secretly been working on a new and improved method for user submitted powers and features. In the past, users could do so via the Xat community forum.

The new system not only allows you to suggest those things that you’d like to see on Xat, but it also allows each user to cast his or her vote. Presumably the higher the vote, the more user interest, the greater the likelihood that Xat may take a closer look at the suggestion.

Xat has also implemented a Glitches feature, using the same interface, that can be used to report bugs/errors found within the Xat.com site.

All good! Try it out here or at xat.com/vote.

Xat Mobile Now Live

Several days ago we released, took down, then re-released a story about a rumored mobile version of Xat.com. That “rumor” is now fact.

Xat users that would like access their chatbox by mobile phone can do so here:  http://m.xat.com.

Don’t expect too much. Remember, this is a very stripped down version of an actual Xat chatbox; that means no powers, no friends lists, and not much more than straight text chat.

Have fun with it!

Xat to User: Can You Read Me Now?

xat phone app

When does getting up at 3 .am., because you just can’t seem to get to sleep, pay off? When you get to try out what is rumored to possibly be Xat’s next big feature; a mobile version of their the Xat site.

Xat is currently working on a chat by mobile phone version of their site. Although it has yet to be confirmed, this hopefully will find its way into a full blown Xat application; think iPhone app. At the moment little is know about either.

The non-flash version that we tested was a very basic, very  scaled down beta version of the Xat site.

Stay tuned for more info!

Problem User(s)? Power “46″ to the Rescue!

xat mute power

Xat may be introducing a new power that will give chat owners some added power to help combat problem users.

Code named 42 (the name “mute” is being tossed around), this power will allow an owner (we’re not clear on if it’s owner or main owner only) to turn off a users ability to interact with the chat. The key here, and what makes this power so unique, is that the user won’t know when it happens.

Confused? This example should help clear things up a bit:

What ProblemUser sees:

ProblemUser: “You all suck!”
Owner: “Please stop or we will ban you”
ProblemUser: “I will just unban myself, buahahaha!
Owner: ProblemUser BANNED forever
ProblemUser: “I’m back and I will just keep unbanning myself!”
ProblemUser: “I rule this chat. You can’t do a thing about it”
Owner: “How are you Lisa?”
ProblemUser: “Lisa sucks! Hahaha… I’m the coolest and this chat sucks!”
Lisa: Hi Owner, I’m good thank you.
Owner: Glad to hear it Lisa :)

What everyone else in the chat sees:

ProblemUser: “You all suck!”
Owner: “Please stop or we will ban you”
ProblemUser: “I will just unban myself, buahahaha!
Owner: ProblemUser BANNED forever
ProblemUser: “I’m back and I will just keep unbanning myself!”
Owner: **MUTE ProblemUser for 2 hours**
Owner: “How are you Lisa?”
Lisa: Hi Owner, I’m good thank you.
Owner: Glad to hear it Lisa :)

Still confused? So is ProblemUser. He’ll continue his insults right in the chat; what he won’t know, at least for sometime, is that apart from just getting pwned, no one will be able to see what he’s typing. Eventually, ProblemUser will catch on, unban, and the process will repeat itself. Will ProblemUser get frustrated and give up? We think so. :)

Xat Gag Power Being Tested

xat gag power

Xat is currently testing a Gag power (see image above) that will appear alongside the normal ban button and allow the gagging of a bothersome user up to a maximum of one hour.

Think of the gag power as a kinder, more gentler, banned option. Instead of the familiar and more severe “you’re banished I don’t want to see you”, you’re simply saying “please be quiet for a minute”.
