DOOD Spotted on Xat – Exclusive!

xat dood power

DOOD… Is it a power, a new feature, or a revamped version of some 90′s surf slang? We don’t know, yet! We now know!

Let us set this up for you. There you are late at night, well into your 7th hour, working away on the Mona Lisa of Xat doodles. You’re exhausted but you’re still not quite finished. What do you do? You either leave your PC and doodle application running, risk some unforeseen browser crash all the while contributing to global warming, or you call it quits, concede to the fact that your doodle will never be what it could have been and export to Photobucket using this button:

xat to photobucket

Forget that and say hello to “Dood”!

Dood, is a new Xat power (scratch 44 off your list, this is it!) that allows a user to import their saved doodle art right back into the Xat doodle application. You can work on a doodle, save it, get some sleep, then import it back into Xat and continue editing right were you left off. Woohoo!

This new doodle power isn’t just limited to Xat created doodles. Users are also able  to import images, photographs, etc… We tested it out on jpg, png, and gif formats with no problems whatsoever.

To use:
1. Purchase the DOOD power
2. Go into any chat and open the doodle application
3. Paste your image link (Photobucket image URL) right into the chat
4. Click this button to import into doodle:

photobucket to xat

Known limitations (these may change in the future):
- 1024 x 1024 is currently the maximum allowed image size
- not all sites work 100% of the time. Although not a requirement by any means, importing an image that has been uploaded to Photobucket (i.e. one that has been stored in a Photobucket account) seems to be the most trouble free way to go.

Like all powers, “Dood”  also has a power smile. As a bonus, by simply appending “dood” to any yellow smile you’re able to create brush smiles:

(smile#dood#b#rockon#left#thumbsup#right), (d#dood), (yawn#dood)

Of course with the right power you can also add things like hands, costumes, hair, etc… Very cool!

Have fun with this one!

Xat Backgrounds Launched!

We’ve finally launched our new Xat backgrounds section. More marketplace, than Xat background depot, this new feature allows gives Xat BG designers a place to create and display their work for everyone to see.

As we previously noted, designers, using their own control panel, are able to upload/remove their Xat backgrounds, make changes to their profile info, avatar, and also rates.

The rest of us can either use each designers free Xat backgrounds or contact them to have custom backgrounds created for our chat.

Find a Xat Bug, Get a Low Numbered ID

While Xat is hard at work on cool and exciting new features, we’d like to draw everyones attention once again to xat.com/vote.

Most people already know that on that page, they are able to suggest new features and powers. However, many don’t realize that Xat glitches, bugs, and errors can also be reported there as well. We mention this now because someone close to us, a friend and colleague, took the time to report a “flaw”. Xat found it helpful enough that he was kindly rewarded with some Xats and a very low digit ID.

So if you have programming knowledge and spot something that you think Xat should be made aware of, don’t hesitate to use the report a glitch feature. Xat will appreciate it, and you’ll be doing the entire Xat community a great service.

Remove a Xat Reserve Block

Xat has added a new feature that allows frustrated users to remove their Xat reserve.

Xat reserve, according to the Xat wiki

…is a new xat feature to protect your xats, days and powers from other people who would try to scam them from you…

The problem, at least for some users, is that the block can sometimes limit their ability to transfer and trade with other users. Xat’s new tool allows, via phone verification, the ability to lift that block. Of course, with that also comes one small caveat, if you do happen to get scammed you’re on your own.

We’re told that you have only one shot to get it right, so do read through the instructions very carefully before trying it.

Briefly, you go to the new Xat reserve page, fill out the form with your ehem… “correct” information, and click the “Call me now” button. You will instantly, and we do mean “instantly”, scary instantly really, get a call back from an automated Xat bot (our caller ID said Compton for some reason) who will give you a 4 digit pin. Write that baby down and simply enter it into the Xat verification page.

If everything goes as planned you’ll get a “Reserve successfully reduced” message.

Just watch out for scammers!

XatLive – Xatworld Exclusive!

Although we have very sketchy details right now, XatLive, Xat’s most recent hush-hush application, appears to be geared specifically to massive multi-user chat. How the application ends up being used is left to your imagination but think Q&A’s and live interviews with performing artists, actors, or creators of your favorite television shows.

Xatlive answers the question, “how can one effectively moderate 1000, 10,000, or a even 1,000,000 users”. It can simply be thought of as a tool that allows the moderating of event specific, massive multi-user chats. Participants might for example, enter a chat as a spectator but be unable to participate in the main chat where the event is taking place. Users questions might then fall into a sort of queue where moderators will be at the ready, able to act on each question and/or participant via a control panel.

Although unconfirmed, Xatlive may also find its way into regular Xat chats as well. Our testing, although very beta, suggested that may be an option but we’ll all have to wait and see.

Well, apart from bragging rights and maybe having a cool looking ID, these ID’s sell for a considerable amount in the trade chatrooms.
