XatBlogs.com relaunch details

I’ve been working on getting xatblogs.com back online for a couple of months now. The holdup, apart from ”life”, has primarily been trying to find a solution to a horrendous splog problem that affects this particular bit of software. Ziggy did what he could to keep everything running smoothly, but even so, they occasionally found their way in. With each new splog instance the database just became bigger and bigger and grossly unmanageable. There were also costly bandwidth issues that Ziggy tried to take on but occasionally, as those limits were exceeded, the site got knocked offline. That was then, and a few things have changed to remedy those problems.

During these past months I’ve been bumping the site around from host to host trying to find a balance between cost and efficiency. I finally have all of that sorted out and I’m confident that things will run much more smoothly this time around (*crossing fingers*). The “automated” splog problem will be tackled using either an “invite code”, passphrase or a simple Q&A (something simple).

A version of the above will hopefully be available this weekend when xatBlogs.com finally gets relaunched. Until then, I’ve setup a NEW xatblogs Facebook page for anyone wanting to pre-like the site. :)

Note: Anyone who had a blog on xatblogs.com will find it on xatblogs.net; a temporary site created specifically to store a backup of your content. Everyone will easily be able to import their existing blog(s) (or any blog for that matter) into the new site.

That’s about it… Stay tuned and thanks for being so patient! :D

xatBlogs 1,000th User Contest Bonanza!

xat blogs contest

xatBlogs.com has reached an unprecedented 1,000 registered users (psst… they are actually 3 users away from reaching 1,000; why not be the 1,000th). Anyway, to celebrate the moment xatBlogs has come up with a new and exciting contest.

In Brief, users are being asked to create a Xat/xatBlogs “Zing” (like a shout-out). Best one wins 30 clears AND, as if that wasn’t enough, the opportunity to try out and keep a new unreleased Xat power (compliments of Xat.com).

Enough said… You can read all the details, along with the latest Xat gossip and news, right on the xatBlogs contest page. Don’t forget to join the xatBlogs.com Facebook fan page and the xatBlogs Twitter for more contests and fun.

Good luck to all!

My promise to xatBlogs bloggers!

I’m starting to recognize first hand the significance of having everyone participate here in the xatBlogs community.

My promise to everyone is to bring eyes directly to your blog posts from Xatworld.com. If I see blog posts here on xatBlogs with interesting Xat info, news, tips or whatever, and I mention them on http://blog.xatworld.com, I will link to and give full credit to the author of that post.

So, if you see something, have inside knowledge, or simply hear a rumor, don’t hesitate to post it. “Rumor” btw, can be a great catalyst to for new conversation!

Thanks everyone!

Both Viren and Rain get first mention for their posts on DX.

xatBlogs.com hits 500 users – almost!

xat blogs

Yes we know, we said we would report back when xatBlogs.com reached its 1,000th user, but since they hit 500 so fast that we couldn’t help ourselves.

As of this post Xat Blogs current member count stands at just 2 users shy of its 500th xat blogs user.

Having said that, we really will follow up when Xat Blogs hits 1,000 users! In the meantime, keep your eye on the xatBlogs website, the fastest growing site for Xat bloggers, for the very latest in Xat info and contests. Oh, and if you still haven’t reserved your xatBlogs blog/username, get it here before someone else does.

xatBlogs banners – bored :)

I’m trying to come up with a new idea for a xatblogs.net banner… something catchy to lure people for Xatworld to xatBlogs.

xatblogsbannerI liked this image, but graphically couldn’t get the idea across. My tagline was going to be:

“xatBlogs – Unequivocally, the largest and fastest growing community of Xat.com bloggers!” “Growth” is was got me moving in the direction of a jungle. Maybe a bit of a stretch though… :)

Seems kinda blank without the tagline…

xat blogs

Hi everyone! We have a new site that we’d like to more officially help promote; its called xatBlogs (plural). Some of you may have seen the new xatBlogs banner that we’ve placed on our Xatworld homepage. Well, we’d now like to do the same via this blog and our twitter feed.

For those of you still unfamiliar with the website, xatBlogs is a sort of social community slash blogging platform geared towards bringing together fellow Xat users. For a few days now we have been watching, participating and doing our small part to help get everything up and running on xatBlogs. We are pleased to see that there has been an absolutely tremendous response from loyal Xat users, kudos coming directly from Xat staff, and xatBlogs is fast approaching it’s 200th member.

Back in October, when we first noticed and wrote about the apparent interest in personal Xat blogs, we were looking for a way to help interested users launch their own Xat resource, gossip, and news sites. While we work on that, we see xatBlogs as a serious launching platform to network with other Xat users, make friends, and help get your work out in front of other users like yourself.

Anyway, if you’re even slightly curious, head on over to xatBlogs.com and reserve your own Xat blog right now! If you run into problems or need some extra help feel free to contact me personally and I will help get you setup.

Thanks everyone for supporting Xatworld.com and xatBlogs.com!
